Family Crisis Intervention Program
Giving them a future......
It happens in more families than you could imagine.
FCIP CASE MEETING
The heartbreak and devastation are all too real. Helping these children means more than just shaking our heads. It means extending a hand, offering practical ideas and providing real solutions.Bikur Cholim does just that.
Our Family Crisis Intervention Program, directed by David Lefkowitz, PhD and Estie Klein, MHC, offers hands-on assistance, big brother and big sister mentoring and counseling. Social work interns and trained volunteers, with professional oversight by a psychologist, a mental health counselor and a program director, give of their time to bring normalcy to children from dysfunctional homes and families in crisis. Each week, countless children benefit from a personal one-on-one interaction.
Since its inception, thousands of children have been helped, hundreds of families have been given support and the wherewithal to bring stability to their broken homes.
The task is long and arduous, but we must not, and cannot, afford to abandon our children. Camp scholarships, cleaning help for Pesach, and warm clothing are costly, but their value is priceless. It means changing the lives of forlorn children, who so desperately just want and deserve to be “normal.” All they need is a warm meal, clean clothes and an adult to whom they can confide and look to for guidance, help with homework and problems they may be having in school.
